Load shedding to end by this winter: PM Nepal

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said talks with Indian government were underway to end load shedding from this winter. He was addressing the 39th annual general assembly of Industrial Organisation Morang today. The PM’s remark comes at a time when the entrepreneurs have been lamenting government indifference towards the plight of many industries of Sunsari-Morang Corridor due to frequent power cut. PM Nepal said that the government was looking into bringing in 400 megawatt electricity from India’s Muzaffarpur to Nepal via Dhalkebar for the sustainable solution of the load shedding.


He also revealed that the government was considering to giving the production of electricity from diesel plant in Morang’s Tankisinwari to private sectors. He also claimed that the government was shortly introducing an economic package under his direct supervision for the economical development. The industrialists, however, warned that all the industries of the east would be closed in case the government failed to immediately address their 10-point charter of demands. President of the organisation Dinesh Golchha accused the government of not showing interest to solve the problems plaguing the industries.
