SWEET FRUIF OF SOUR COST
The positive aspect of the Maoist conflict is that it has made people aware of the historical maladies existing in the society. The Maoist do not tolerate the caste-based discrimination ,which has been one of the most corrosive ills inflicting the society, and severally punished those who practice it they have urged and persuaded the people to use respectable and honorific terms instead of derogatory once use while addressing the people of the lower-cast. They disregard the norms of humanitarian laws or respect even the international covenant, as right to life against those, who oppose their ideology related to the afore-mentioned practices. Their protest against the discrimination of dalits in the society has attained considerable supports and applauds.
Similarly, the Maoist has raised voices against the discrimination of women. They have launched a campaign against the tradition, in which women are fallen prey during the time of menstruation or child delivery, as they are required to live isolated in some on hygienic cowsheds, sacks or even caves, according to their prevalent cultural practices.
Other brighter dimensions are: the armed insurgency has been a driving force for the civil society to draw their attention to the commoners of Karnali. Many of the organization bolstered by the Maoist ideology—are aiming to root out the remnants of serious social maladies like caste-based discrimination, ill-treatment towards women, public consumption of alcohol, gambling and playing cards, polygamy etc through various programs. Likewise, the conflict can be a good opportunity for the development of Karnali provided the nongovernmental organization and civil society realize fact that it is being late to take non – violent initiatives to weed out this social ills, existing as obstacles in the development of the region. TAKEN AWAY LIVES
At firsts, the insurgents threatened and tortured the people in the villages who were opposed to them “INSEC 1997”. As the Maoists conflict spread like a wild fire in Karnali, the police killed arbitrarily. People were then killed from the government repressive “moves” adopted to contain the Maoists. Killings were caused giving no attention to the importance of human life. No principle of human rights and humanitarian law were respected in the killing and both the parties took lives in a barbaric manner arbitrary. None of the incidents if killing was investigated internally by the parties or by natural judicial inquiry mechanism at local, national or international level. The following tables display the trend of arbitrary killings.

The two big parties in the current coalition government have failed to resolve dispute over appointment of governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Saturday as well.
The meeting of the top leaders from both the parties held at the residence of Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala this morning concluded without any decision on appointment of governor.
UML has been adamant on naming National Planning vice chairman Yubaraj Khatiwada as NRB governor while Nepal Congress has proposed to promote deputy governor Bir Bikram Rayamajhi.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra Poudel and others had reached Koriala residence this morning.
The leaders have agreed for further deliberation on disputed issues in another meeting scheduled for Sunday. Read more »

Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed the three-party high-level political mechanism (HLPM) is taking initiative for a new government under the leadership of his party.
“The high-level mechanism has been taking initiative to form a Maoist-led national government. The peace process and drafting of new constitution will not be complete without the Maoists taking the lead,” Dahal said while speaking at a blood donation programme in Pokhara on Saturday.
Promulgating the new constitution within the stipulated time is possible only if there is a Maoist-led government, Dahal added. Read more »
